1st Arrest with HPD's New License Plate Reader
Posted February 25th, 2014 @ 12:45pm

Police have made their first arrest using HPD's new automated license plate reader.  Twenty-five-year-old Maui Remigio has been charged with auto theft, after he was stopped for a traffic violation Saturday in Moiliili. His bail has been set at $15,000. The system takes a picture of a license plate, then runs it through records to see if it's stolen or belongs to a missing person.
