Four Kauai Teachers Protest Education Evaluations
Posted February 24th, 2014 @ 12:11pm

Four public school teachers on Kauai are so frustrated with new educator evaluations that they're letting the state know. They complained that the new system requires an overwhelming amount of work and that there hasn't been adequate training in implementing the evaluations. They sent a letter of protest to the state earlier this month. The evaluations were implemented as part of an agreement between the state and the Hawaii State Teachers Association. Department of Education spokeswoman Donalyn Dela Cruz says with anything new, there will be some who are unhappy with changes. The Garden Island reports the nationally board certified teachers say they are in favor of evaluations but the new system is hurting morale and is too time consuming.
