Gov. Abercrombie Signs Tutle Bay Agreement

Posted May 20th, 2014 @ 3:07pm

Governor Neil Abercrombie Monday signed what he calls a landmark proposal establishing a conservation easement preserving more than 660-acres of land owned by Turtle Bay Resort. Act 81 authorizes the Hawaii Tourism Authority to issue $40 million in revenue bonds and use the proceeds to acquire the conservation easement. The measure allows for the preservation of about 80% of the open space land owned by the resort. The new law takes effect on July 1.
