HMA Urges Private Doctors to Treat Veterans

The Hawaii Medical Association is asking private physicians to volunteer to treat veterans, who are waiting as long as 145 days to get their first appointment with a doctor at the VA hospital here. HMA executive director Dr. Christopher Flanders told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser the local physicians advocacy group voted along with the American Medical Association to ask the federal government to use private providers outside the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs health care system until the VA can clear up its long wait times.
