Honolulu police officers must leave their steady blue lights on during the day. This is a new policy which went into effect about a month ago. It's to make them more visible on the streets. Previously, officers were only required to have their steady blue lights on at night. The exception is if they're on the lookout for speeders or drunk drivers, they're not required to turn on their lights. Also, beginning July 1, all officers in uniform will be required to cover their tattoos with long sleeved uniforms or makeup. Those who don't comply face disciplinary action.
