Hawaii Dairy Farms on Kauai announced it will start off with 650 to 699 cows, instead of the 2,000 cows it initially wanted. The plan was modified in response to odor and other environmental concerns. Investor Ulupono Initiative General Partner Kyle Datta says the phased in approach will demonstrate the difference between a grass-fed dairy and a traditional feedlot model. A resort filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the dairy's operations. That suit is pending.
