Honolulu firefighters are making progress in fighting a brush fire that has scorched more than 1,000 acres in upper Makakilo. Fire Spokesman Captain David Jenkins said the winds have died down since the fire began Friday afternoon, and now firefighters are concentrating keeping the flames from reaching the Honouliuli Forest Reserve, which is home to many rare and endangered plant and animal species.  Firefighters say the fire was started by two young boys playing with a lighter.
