The public teachers' 2013 through 2017 labor contract requires teacher evaluations. And, beginning next year those evaluations will be tied to pay raises, tenure and termination. Teachers complain about the design of the Educator Effectiveness System -- or EES - saying they don't understand it, they haven't been properly trained and they are overwhelmed with the work required to prepare for the six areas measured by the evaluations. The Department of Education is weighing ways to improve the evaluations for next year.
