University of Hawaii President David Lassner met with a group of U.H. students who were staging a sit-in at the campus to urge Lassner to reconsider his firing of U.H. Manoa Chancelor Tom Apple. Lassner told the students he gave Apple an unsatisfactory performance rating because he was unable to address serious financial troubles at Manoa and failed to assemble a "cohesive" leadership team to run the campus.
