YouTube Star Jailed For Giving Homeless Man Toothpaste-Filled Oreo

A 20-year-old YouTube star from from Barcelona was sentenced to 15 months in jail because of a prank he played on a homeless man for one of his popular videos. 20-year-old Kanguhua Ren, who goes by name ReSet online, was found guilty of violating the moral integrity of a homeless man for tricking him into eating Oreos that were filled with toothpaste.

In the video, which was posted in 2017 and has since been taken down, Ren gave the homeless man the cookies and it made him sick. He began to vomit while Ren made light of the situation.

"But look at the positive side; this will help him clean his teeth,” he said. “I think he hasn't cleaned them since he became poor."

After the video went viral and Ren started receiving backlash for his cruel prank, he tried to make amends. He visited the homeless man, identified only as Gheorge L., and offered him 20 euros. That didn't help and Ren then went back to meet him another time and offered Gheorge's daughter 300 euros if she agreed not to file a lawsuit against him.

The court was not impressed by his attempts to rectify the situation and pointed out that he earned nearly $2,500 from the video and has made other videos featuring cruel pranks on members of the public.

It is unlikely Ren will serve any jail time because Spanish law allows first-time offenders who commit non-violent crimes to have their prison sentences waived. He will be required to pay $22,300 to his victim.
