According to USA Today, California has become the first state to ban the use of 4 food additives in the United States. These additives are found in foods, candy, and cereals! Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law that will prohibit the manufacture, sale or distribution of brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben and Red Dye 3. Red dye 3 is found in Skittles and other confectionaries like PEZ, Hot Tamales and Dubble Bubble gum, while brominated vegetable oil is normally concocted in citrus soft drinks. Gavin Newsom says,
"Californians trust that the food products they consume are safe. I appreciate the author and stakeholders for working on amendments, which advance our shared public health objectives while maintaining consumer choice."
